Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi is the founder of Transcendental Meditation and the inspiration for introducing TM in all areas of society: health, education, business, rehabilitation, and the environment. During the past 50 years over five million people have learned Transcendental Meditation, including more than 60,000 in South Africa, and through their twice-daily practice are rising to enlightenment – a higher level of achievement and fulfilment in life.

Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation is practised by people of all religions and cultures: this simple natural technique does not require faith, and is not dependent on any particular lifestyle, level of education, or cultural background.

Maharishi has trained over 40,000 teachers of Transcendental Meditation, opened hundreds of teaching centres, and founded schools, colleges and universities all over the world. Transcendental Meditation and its related programmes are being applied in private businesses, public institutions, and homes in almost every country. Maharishi’s goal has always been to raise every individual to enlightenment, and every nation to invincibility – problem-free life in affluence and self-sufficiency. During the 50 years of Maharishi’s teaching, from 1957 to 2008, the world has witnessed a significant reduction in armed conflict, the end of the destructive rivalry between East and West, and an unstoppable rise in interest in holistic health, environmental responsibility, and spiritual development.
